Comprehensive Glossier Review

Ever since the dewy look was “in,” I wanted to try Glossier. This must have been back in 2016, but since Glossier was online only, I never ordered any. Flash forward to February 2021, and I decided to bite the bullet and just try it. Ever since then, I’ve tried several of their products - and I fell in love. I’m writing a comprehensive Glossier review of every product I’ve ever tried.

Before I get into it, here are a few things you should know about Glossier:

  1. They’re a skin-care first brand. Since they value skin-care, all of their makeup products are actually good for your skin.

  2. Glossier is cruelty-free

  3. If you’re not sure what shade is right for you, you can email their team a picture and they’ll give you their suggestion!

  4. They love to give out free samples

  5. To help you save money, they offer a lot of bundles with a discount

Boy Brow - 5/5

I have very light eyebrows, so doing them is incredibly important to me. I used to do them with a pencil, but they look more natural with gel. I tried using various brands, like Anastasia Beverly Hills, but Boy Brow was the winner for me. It’s pigmented, but not too much where correcting mistakes is difficult. My only beef is that the tube only lasts a couple months or so, so I have to buy it often. But it’s *worth it.*

Solution - 5/5

I used to get bad pockets of acne and occasionally I still do. When I first ordered Solution, I saw a difference within a week. After a month, I hardly had any acne showing at all. Now when I get a breakout, I use Solution and it dries it up immediately, which helps a lot. This has been a lifesaver. I will never not buy this.

Futuredew - 5/5

I use Futuredew before I put on my makeup in the morning. It’s not a necessary step, but it creates a great moisturized base. I love it and it lasts 6-8 months.

Milky Jelly Cleanser - 3/5

I feel neutral about the Milky Jelly Cleanser. I expected this to help with my acne when I bought it, but it didn’t seem to make any difference. My skin did feel clean, though, and there had been no negative effect with it. I used it until it was gone, but I didn’t purchase it again (and I didn’t notice).

Generation G Lipstick - 4/5

I am so picky when it comes to textures and products - especially lipstick. I’ve tried MAC, Estee Lauder, NYX, and plenty of other lipsticks, lip tints, etc. Generation G is the only one that I like! It feels more like a lip tint than a lipstick, which is personally what I’m going for. It’s pigmented enough to show, but it looks very natural. I have 4 shades - Crush, Like, Cake, and Poppy. Poppy is a little too bright for me, but I love the other 3!

My only issue is that it feels a little dry going on. I apply Burt’s Bees chapstick for a moisturized base, and then apply Generation G. It’s the perfect combo!

Stretch Concealer - 3/5

The stretch concealer is perfect if you’re looking for a light coverage concealer for small blemishes and around the eyes. If you’re trying to cover up acne, this is not going to do it.

Lidstar - 4/5

I really like Lidstar. It feels like a retro way to apply eyeshadow, but I love it! It’s easy to apply and move, and I love the color Fawn. I don’t really use it that often, but it’s a great product.

Perfecting Skin Tint - 4/5

Again, because of my particularities with texture, I never wear foundation. However, I did try out the perfecting skin tint since I wanted a bit more coverage because of my acne. I enjoyed this product so much in the warmer months! It adds great coverage, but it looks like nothing is there, and it feels like skin care. During the colder months, it got a little clingy to my skin when it got dry (probably a me problem), but other than that it’s great!

Lash Stick - 2/5

Lash Stick is the only product from Glossier that I tried and hated. My goal with mascara is to make my eyes pop. Lash Stick is definitely a more subtle, barely-there kind of mascara. Apart from that, I felt like it was flaky and it irritated my eyes. I used it for maybe a week and called it quits.

Haloscope - 5/5

Haloscope is the perfect finishing touch on my face - whether I do a full face of makeup or just put on a touch of boy brow and mascara and call it good, it makes my face look alive. It’s super easy to apply and stays all day. It lasts for a good 8 months.

Cloud Paint - 5/5

Cloud Paint is the holy grail of Glossier products. I have it in Beam, a nice peachy color. I feel sun kissed and beachy when I wear it. It’s creamy and very easy to apply. It’s pretty pigmented, so trust me when I say - a little goes a long way.

No. 1 Pencil - 4/5

I used to get Urban Decay’s eyeliner, but I switched to Glossier when they came out with the No. 1 Pencil. Honestly, I really like both of them! Glossier’s is really buttery and easy to adjust and maneuver even after applying - which is great for people like me who are not that great at doing makeup. The downside - if you rub your eyes or touch your face a lot during the day, it will rub off.

Cleanser Concentrate - 4/5

I keep the Cleanser Concentrate in the shower and wash my face every other day. I really like it and my skin feels really clean and seems to have a positive reaction to it.

Perfume - 5/5

Ok, so I don’t actually own the perfume, but I have samples of it and it smells so good. I have no clue what the scent is, but I like it!

Monochromes - 4/5

I really enjoy the Monochromes eyeshadow. It’s pigmented yet easy to apply and move around. I also like that you can purchase replacements without purchasing the tin, so you can spend less money and reuse your tin. What I don’t like is that they only come in trios of the same color in different shades, and I never want to wear a super dark shade of orange.

Lip Line - 5/5

The Lip Line is the first lip liner I have ever tried, and I cannot believe it took me until the ripe age of 30 to try it. I have naturally have full lips, but wearing lip liner makes them pop and gives me a great, finished makeup look. I WILL NOT LEAVE THE HOUSE WITHOUT IT.

After Baume - 5/5

I used to struggle with red, dry patches under my nose and around my mouth. Yeah, it’s as gross as it sounds… I tried different products and nothing helped except After Baume. It’s a thick moisturizer that does a great job at targeting stubborn dry spots. It also comes in a travel size in case you don’t want to shell out a ton of money for standard size (hello, me).

Universal Pro-Retinol - 4/5

I really enjoyed using the Universal Pro-Retinol, but had to stop when I got pregnant. I don’t think I was able to use it long enough to know exactly how great of a product it was, but when I used it I did like it! And now that I’m thinking of it, I think I’m going to order it again…

Super Pure - 4/5

I love putting some serum on my face at night. I feel like I’m “girling” right. However, I can’t tell if Super Pure is giving me some acne, or if it’s helping it go away… too soon to tell.

I hope this blog has taught you a little more about Glossier, and convinced you to try it! I promise, it’s so worth it! My skin is literally so soft.

Until next time - may your weekend be full of creativity and style.
