Different Types of Jackets You Need in Your Closet

Autumn is approaching and that means jacket weather! I know “sweater weather” is a more popular phrase, but I personally am a fan of jackets. I love simple basics - like jeans and a tee - and adding a jacket that sets the tone of the whole outfit. Jackets are a chic and effortless way to be stylish and make a statement. They’re also very practical if that’s your thing. These are the different types of jackets you need in your closet.

Leather Jacket

The classic leather jacket is a must to add to your jacket collection. It is timeless and forever a chic option. Pair it with a pair of denim, or add a cropped version to a dress for a mix of edgy and romantic. You can also get different colors - basic black is classic, but a tan or maroon one is also very cool.

Suede Jacket

Suede is another material that never goes out of style. Get yourself a suede jacket - any length - for a chic yet warm and friendly vibe. Suede can lean in all sorts of style directions - Western, 70s, or French, etc.

Trench Coat

A trench coat isn’t technically a jacket, but a light trench coat functions as one. Trench coats are great when it’s cool out but not quite cold enough for a coat. You can layer it over sweaters and jeans, or drape it over a dress or skirt with knee high boots. Either way, a trench coat instantly elevates your look with a touch of sophistication - even if you’re donning sneakers.

There are variety of trench coats, so you can really make it your own! You can try different colors, like olive, or go for a different material, like leather.

Denim Jacket

The denim jacket is a modern classic. Personally, I like the oversized ones (the fitted ones look a little outdated/2000s). They’re very casual by nature, and can be a great layering piece, or a way to make a dress more casual and approachable. Basically, the denim jacket is the “type C mom” of the jackets.

Until next time - may your weekend be full of creativity and style.
