Jeff Shelton Architecture Tour: A Photo Diary
Jeff Shelton is the reason I decided to visit Santa Barbara. We typically take a trip out to Southern California every year to visit my in-laws, and I like to take a day trip outside of Orange County to visit new places. I was searching on Pinterest and came across a gorgeous image of a small, Spanish-style building with bougainvillea at dusk. I remember thinking “wow, I really hope I get to visit Spain one day - that’s gorgeous!” I clicked on the image and learned that the building was actually in Santa Barbara - a very attainable adventure!
Once our annual California trip came up, we set out to Santa Barbara for a fun overnight trip, with our number 1 objective to go on a self-guided Jeff Shelton Architecture tour. His style is a blend of Spanish architecture and modern eclecticism. Enjoy this photo diary!
Ablitt House
The Ablitt House is the building I saw in the Pinterest photo. It was incredible seeing it in person! We had to cut through a parking lot to see it, but a valet attendant assured us that it was ok.
Pistachio House
Pistachio House was also in a bit of a random spot, but we easily accessed it as well. I loved the wonky shapes and the colors.
El Andaluz
El Andaluz is an apartment complex, complete with arched pathways and a gorgeous upstairs patio.
If you ever find yourself in Santa Barbara, make sure to go on a Jeff Shelton Architecture Tour. Or better yet - plan a visit around it, because you won’t regret it!
Until next time - may your weekend be full of creativity and style!
