Lardon: A Gourmet Sandwich Shop

Lardon is a quaint, butcher shop restaurant located in Humboldt Park, Chicago. I stumbled across this place on Apple Maps when I was looking for a cute spot for Jason’s birthday (that would also be suitable for a newborn). We stumbled upon this Michelin rated place and I’m so glad we did!

Lardon is kind of like a deli - they’re all about their meats, and they cure it on site. They even have a window showcasing hanging meats.

It’s quite small inside of Lardon, but they seem to have plenty of seating - a few 4-seater tables, bar seating along the outside window, and a hand crafted community table in the back.

Lardon was perfect for Jason’s birthday because it had a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. It was really charming, cozy, and homey while also being upscale. Sometimes upscale places and have a bit of a pretentious vibe, but Lardon had none of that. We felt right at home.

Besides enjoying the atmosphere, the food was phenomenal. Jason ordered the Hotel California (smoked turkey, black pepper bacon, pepper jack, avocado, pickled red onion, shishito pepper aioli, sourdough).

Ever since I visited Philly and had my first Banh Mi at Caphe Roasters, I order one every chance I get. So I had their Blue Line Banh Mi. It was absolutely incredible. The meat was flavored really well - I’m not a meat person but I appreciated this!

The chips were also great and obviously homemade (in a good way).

I don’t usually “restaurant repeat”, but I would definitely come back to Lardon. It’s an intimate restaurant, so it’s perfect for a date or a cozy gathering of friends.

They have brunch and charcuterie boards that I would love to try next time!

Until next time - may your weekend be full of creativity and style.
