UChicago: A Photo Diary

Over the past few years, Hyde Park has become my and my husband’s favorite neighborhood. Our ideal casual Saturday is to drive down and have brunch at Roux, then walk a few blocks down to the University of Chicago (UChicago) and stroll around. It’s the perfect place for a walk, especially in the fall!

UChicago is pretty old - like founded in 1890 old. It was founded by none other than John D. Rockefeller, AKA the wealthiest American of all time. So you can imagine that the campus architecture is elaborately gorgeous. Gothic architecture is predominant, including the Rockefeller Memorial Chapel, which is open to visitors year-round.

Another cool part of the University of Chicago is the neighborhood of Hyde Park itself (which reminds me of Oak Park). The homes have multiple stories, grand windows, and beautiful details. There is a residential/homey feel which can be hard to come across in big cities.

If you have out of town guests, the University of Chicago is also a great place to take them! It’s so picturesque and away from the busyness (and tourism) of downtown.

Until next time - may your weekend be full of creativity and style.
