Elfreth’s Alley: A Photo Diary

At over 300 years old, Elfreth’s Alley, located in Philadelphia, is the oldest active alley in the US. Meaning, people still live there and use the homes as they are. It is technically an alley, although it’s really more of a narrow, cobblestone street. There are some restrictions for the residents, like not altering the homes in a way that’s too modern (ie air conditioning). I couldn’t do it, but I love that the alley is living history, and people can experience it for themselves.
