4 Tips on Getting Dressed Quicker in the Mornings
I know I’m not the only one who wakes up and wishes I had more time to get dressed. I know I could either wake up earlier, or go to bed earlier, but let’s be real - that’s not going to happen. Here are 3 tips on getting dressed quicker in the mornings.
Pick out one piece the night before
I’ve tried picking out my whole outfit when I go to bed, but I wake up and always hate whatever I picked out… and then I have to start all over again with less time. It’s a great idea in theory, but it doesn’t quite work for me. So I’ve modified it. I’ll pick out one piece before I go to bed, for example, satin pants. Then I ruminate a bit on what could potentially work. When I wake up the next day, I have one piece that I’m for sure wearing and can build my outfit around. Having one item selected helps everything fall into place without taking away the creative process.
Iron/steam your wrinkled pieces in advance
Have you ever finally decided on an outfit, only to realize that one of the pieces is disgustingly wrinkled? Yeah, me too. And there’s never quite enough time to give it a quick steam. Solution? Take some time over the weekend to steam and iron your clothes. That way, whenever you pick out an item within 10 minutes before you have to leave, nothing is off limits.
Pinterest is your best friend
Whenever I’m in a rut or feel uninspired when I look at my closet, I go to Pinterest for some inspiration. I either type in “summer work outfits” or focus on a specific piece and search “white pants outfit.” Something catches my eye and resuscitates the creative part of my brain.
Have 3 go-to outfits pre-selected
If all else fails, have 3 go-to outfits pre-selected. I know that if I really can’t think of anything creative to wear, I can always count on my favorite denim and a tucket in tee, paired with a blazer. Or a classic white button down has never failed me yet. I have a few standard but classic outfits in my back pocket so I can at least feel put together.
Until next time - may your weekend be full of creativity and style.
