Chicago Restaurants To Try Before Summer Ends

Once September comes, people are either fully embracing fall, or squeezing as much life out of summer as they can. I’m in the first group, but if you’re in the latter, here are some Chicago restaurants to try before summer ends officially!

Costera Cocina Tulum

Costera Cocina Tulum is the ultimate summer restaurant. Inside, there is dim lighting, vibey music, and decor that reflects Tulum, Mexico (I imagine, I’ve never been there). I ordered Beaches of Tulum (strawberry & mint mojito with rum). For the main course, I got the shrimp aguachile (key lime cured shrimp, mango chipotle broth, toasted pepitas).

Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba

If you want a fun summer spot to hit up, Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba is the place to be! This Spanish style tapas spot is a gem of the Lincoln Park neighborhood. It’s a great place to try a lot of different dishes, and they have a fabulous Happy Hour (1984 prices). You MUST order their classic sangria, and if you’re staying for a while, the paella (desserts are great, too!).

Small Cheval

Small Cheval is the perfect Chicago restaurant to try before summer ends. There are multiple locations around the city, and we frequent the Old Town spot. All seating is outside, and the simple menu is printed on the wall. Pick from a cheeseburger, fries, and shakes, which can be made boozey. This is a great spot for a spontaneous night out, or for a casual dinner with friends!

Maya del Sol

If dining on a patio is still on your summer bucket list, check out Maya del Sol in Oak Park! While the inside is very chic, head to the back patio to enjoy the last bit of summer. With vibrant colors and plants, it’s such a vibe!

We also loved what we ordered - Cochinita Pibil (achiote marinated pork shoulder, black beans, pickled red onions, serrano-lime salsa, housemade tortillas), chicken enchiladas, and a skillet cookie for dessert.

We went on a Sunday afternoon, which happened to be their happy hour, so we got a margarita and sangria (my favorite).

River Roast

Eating on the Chicago River should be on everyone’s bucket list (even if you DIY a picnic). Make sure to try out River Roast for brunch. We had a great time enjoying the weather, the river, and the food.

3 Arts Club Cafe (RH)

3 Arts Club Cafe is the restaurant located in Restoration Hardware, a gorgeous furniture store in Gold Coast. The restaurant has a domed, glass ceiling, is surrounded by plants, and has a beautiful concrete fountain in the center.

The menu is simple, yet has good options. I love their cheeseburger and fries with aioli sauce. There really is nothing like eating a juicy cheeseburger served on a silver platter haha.

Make sure to check out these Chicago restaurants before summer ends! Which one are you choosing?

As usual, may your weekend be full of creativity and style.
