How To Take Family Pictures with a Tripod
This fall has felt really busy and we just couldn’t quite find a time to schedule family pictures with a photographer. Since I am a photographer, we decided to take some family photos quickly on a tripod at a small yet charming nature preserve near our house.
I’m not a huge fan of self-timer photos because, honestly, I feel intimidated by adjusting all of the settings, and then also having to change them all back. It just felt way too complicated to me. And then, you just get one photo out of it, and you have to keep running back and forth. Not worth it, no thanks.
Well, I decided to look up self-timer settings on Tik Tok, and I actually found one that is not only simple, but resets after every click (so you don’t have to readjust your settings to go back to normal). AND you can set it to take multiple photos instead of just one. I struck gold.
So here are the settings:
Main Camera Settings
Interval Timer - Enable
Intervals (how many seconds between shots)
No. of Shots (how many photos get taken)
So easy!
The video I saw suggested 20 photos every 3 seconds. I felt like we moved too much with a toddler, so I changed it to every 2 seconds. Honestly, we probably could have done every 1 second, but every 2 seconds still worked!
We were able to get a burst of shots taken over 40 seconds, and get a variety of shots, and also moving the tripod closer and further.
This is a super non-frustrating way to set up your tripod and get several great shots you can work with!
Ok, now for the best part - our family photos:
Until next time - may your weekend be full of creativity and style.
